Wind River Trace
The Wind River Trace family provides trace solutions for reconstructing execution of software. These thorough solutions use information supplied by a CPU during execution steps that entail code and data accesses from internal cache as well as those that involve external bus cycles.
With 200 MHz its faster then the older visionTRACE Module.
The amount and type of information is a function of the capabilities provided by the CPU. For example, the IBM 405 provide information related to code execution. Freescale ColdFire CPUs go a step further and also provide information regarding data access. This feature enables the Wind River Trace products for Freescale ColdFire CPUs to trace the modification of variables in addition to tracing code execution. The information provided by the CPU is not adversely effected by enabling cache of instructions and data. By using this feature, Wind River Trace is able to depict accurately the sequence of code being executed in the CPU even in situations where the CPU accesses code and data from internal cache without creating any external bus cycles.
Wind River Trace functions as a scalable extension to Wind River ICE. It performs run control and execution trace through a simplified processor-dependent target connection.
